Deliciously juicy, with blackberry and ripe plum flavours and a noticeably soft, full finish. A clean warm and very accessible Sicilian red. This wine has become hugely popular - due in part to value for money, in part to its irresistible charm and sheer gluggability!

Aglianico Castello Ducale DOC 2006
Red, shiny impenetrable colour; ample perfume with notes of red fruit and with all the typical characteristic of this grape variety; in the mouth it's silky, with a sweet and delicate beginning, in order to explode in the middle of the mouth with all its mass of fruit, with a good texture and a beautiful body; perfectly integrated fine and soft tannins in the mass of the wine, very well-balanced with acidity that make the 14° of alcohol go unnoticed. A pleasant wine of high quality. It’s impossible not to finish the bottle. A wine ‘from the fist iron in a velvet glove’.

Sangiovese, Boirà IGT Marche 2008
Ripe Sangiovese grapes from high vineyards in the Ascoli Piceno area of Le Marche have been crafted into a charming new Italian red. Its minimalist label is utterly in keeping with the contents - this is a chic and lightly oaked modern style wine that's both harmonious and perfectly pitched for wining and dining. On the nose there's sweet oaky fruit - in the mouth its smooth and mellow with hints of cherry, plum and vanilla... and the tannins are just right.

Intense red ruby colour, of good concentration. Ample perfume, pleasant with wide notes of fruit and liquorice. Taste of discreet yielded fruit, enriched from vegetable hues and spices.

Aglianico Amaro IGT Contessa Ferrara
Aglianico is capable of producing on the great red wines of Italy. Rich in color and tannin, these wines are capable of retaining high acidity even when very ripe. They can range from fairly fruity styles to majestic, age worthy examples and while the deep plummy and wild cherry fruit is always evident it is usually complemented by nuanced earthy and cocoa tones and often reveals a strikingly deep mineral note.

Barbera ‘Solo per Laura’,La Luna del Rospo DOC 2004
Solo per Laura - so named because Michael Schaffer (the expatriate German who bought the rundown estate in the early 1990's) says that it's only his daughter Laura who gets as much love and attention as this wine. Choose from the following - oaky, smoky, damsons, plums, chocolate, ripe cherries, vanilla. Deep colour, deep flavours - deep joy!

Barolo, Erbaluna DOCG 2005
One of the great Italian wines, made exclusively from the highly tannic Nebbiolo grape in the Piedmont region. This is a good example of modern Barolo, made in a more approachable style than was traditionally the case. With the characteristic aroma of ripe plums, this is still weighty yet has elegant fruit, and with noticeably receding tannins, this will reward keeping and develop interesting complexity. Flavour fans will drink this on its own - we recommend it as an accompaniment to rich and tasty food.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, Corte del Pozzo DOC 2004
This wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks before barrel ageing for 3 years. Careful monitoring of each barrique enables rich and alcoholic impact it quickly reveals its red fruit, plum, clove and (hint of) cinnamon flavours. Wine of a rare elegance, intense pale yellow colour and remarkable glyceric consistency. To the nose it offers a variety of elegant sweet scents from citruses, to persistent flowers with notes of broom. The bouquet is enriched by determined scents acacia honey and vanilla. It’s pleasant, well-balanced, warm, remarkably fresh, with aromatic notes blended together towards the end.
